Common pathogens        Appropriate Antibiotics


Neisseria Meningitidis             Penicillin, Cefotaxime, Ceftriaxone
(Meningococcus)

H. Influenzae                         Cefotaxime, Ceftriaxone

Strep Pneumoniae                  Penicillin, Cefotaxime, Ceftriaxone

MTB                                      See respiratory

Listeria                                  Ampicillin + Gent
(consider if age >55)

Enterococcus                         Cefotaxime, Ceftriaxone + Gent


N.b These are notifiable diseases
