HOSPITAL ACQUIRED PNEUMONIA

Recomended First line: Ceftriaxone +/- Anti-pseudomonal


If high risk of a multi-resistant bug (e.g. hospitalization > 4 days, admitted from nursing home, abx in past 3 months, immunosuppression) treat as for pseudomonas


Common Pathogens          Suggested First Line Antibiotic


Pseudomonas                         Ceftazidime, Ciprofloxacin, Imipenem, Tazocin, Gentamycin
Klebsiella, Enterobacter           Ceftazidime, Ciprofloaxacin, Imipenem
Anaerobes, Acinectobacter       Imipenem, Meropenem, Ceftazidime
Staph. aureus                         Vancomycin or Linezolid.
Legionella                               Erythromycin, Quinolone, Rifampicin
