Routes for central venous cannulation

Central venous cannulation is performed for vascular access, total parenteral nutrition, infusion of irritant drugs, measurement of central venous pressure, cardiac catheterisation, pulmonary artery catheterisation and transvenous cardiac pacing.

Routes for central venous cannulation include:

 Internal jugular vein
 Subclavian vein
 Femoral vein
 External jugular vein
 Antecubital veins
