A 70-year-old man undergoes transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP), and is given spinal anaesthesia. He has previously had a myocardial infarction (MI). He has hypertension and is on clopidogrel.
1. Discuss the preoperative work-up, and issues that might be encountered. 2. Critical incident: shortness of breath; discuss possible causes. Discuss TURP syndrome.
