Pulmonary-Artery versus Central Venous Catheter to Guide Treatment of Acute Lung Injury.
NEJM 2006; 354:2213-2224

In patients with acute lung injury using a pulmonary artery catheter to guide therapy does not affect mortality, number of ventilator free days or ICU free days when compared to central venous catheter guided therapy. The insertion of pulmonary artery catheters is associated with an increased complication rate.
