7th TOE for non-cardiac surgery and intensive care. 21 Portland Place, London, UK. Ever since the introduction of Transoesophageal Echocardiography (TOE) in the cardiac operating theatres, its use has rapidly expanded to encompass other clinical settings. Once exclusively the remit of cardiologists and cardiac anaesthetists, TOE is now being increasingly used in the setting of intensive care, emergencies and non-cardiac surgery. The aim of this day, is to provide the delegate with an introduction to the fundamental principles that underpin the use of this technique, the indications and contraindications, how to perform a TOE examination, evaluation of the various cardiac structures and ventricular function. All the lectures will be video based tutorials featuring some very interesting real life cases. Programme available here.
 8th Difficult airway in special situations. 21 Portland Place, London, UK. This is a one day seminar suitable for all grades of anaesthetists. Our aim is to address the issues and challenges involved in the recognition and management of the difficult airway in special patient populations such as the obstetric, paediatric and the morbidly obese patient and in special situations such as trauma and the critical care unit.  15th Anaesthesia for emergency surgery. 21 Portland Place, London, UK. This is one of the popular seminars held at 21 Portland Place and deals with various aspects of issues involved in anaesthesia for emergency patients on a day to day basis. This will give an opportunity to update your knowledge on some of the common problems encountered during anaesthetising of patients for emergency surgery. 10th Mentoring refresher day. 21 Portland Place, London, UK.
17th 'The AAGBI goes Forth' Cycle Ride. 21 Portland Place, London, UK.The cycle ride is back! This year our team of intrepid cyclists will be riding from London to Annual Congress in Edinburgh in aid of Lifeboxes for Rio which aims to raise £96,000 by the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The ride will start on the morning of Thursday 17 September (from 21 Portland Place, AAGBI & Lifebox headquarters). The route covers over 460 miles in five days arriving in Edinburgh on the evening of Monday 21 September. You are welcome to join the team for all or any leg of the bike ride.
 22nd 40th Annual Linkman Conference. Edinburgh Int'l Conference Centre, Edinburgh, UK. This year’s 40th Linkman Conference will be held in Edinburgh on Tuesday 23 September 2015, the day before the Annual Congress. We hope Linkman will be able to attend both events to discuss important issues with colleagues and national experts. We will of course continue to seek your views which will determine the timing and venue of future meetings. You must be an AAGBI Linkman member to be eligible to attend this conference.
